No Crossover: The Trial of Allen Iverson (2010)
A Kartemquin Films production for ESPN Films’ critically acclaimed “30 for 30” series… On February 13, 1993, 17-year-old Bethel High School basketball star Allen Iverson entered a Hampton, Virginia bowling alley with several classmates. It was supposed to be an ordinary evening, but it became a night that defined Iverson’s young life: a quarrel soon erupted into a brawl pitting Iverson’s young, black friends against a group of older white men. The fallout from the fight and the handling of the subsequent trial landed the nation’s best high school athlete in jail and sharply divided the city along racial lines. Oscar nominee Steve James (Hoop Dreams) returns to his hometown of Hampton, where he once played basketball, to take a personal look at this still disputed incident and examine its impact on Iverson and the shared community.

Chuck Wepner is a liquor salesman from Bayonne, N.J., who drives a Cadillac with “Champ” vanity plates. A former New Jersey State Heavyweight Boxing Champion, he took abuse from Sonny Liston, got his nose broken by Muhammad Ali, and inspired Sylvester Stallone to write “Rocky” which won three Academy Awards. Wepner was left out of the “Rocky” glory, and his career took turn after strange turn as he worked to stay in the spotlight: he went on to fight Andre the Giant as “The Assassin” and boxed a 900 pound bear. Twice.

Venus vs. (2013)
In 2005, Venus Williams joined Billy Jean King, Maria Sharapova, Chris Evert and others in the crusade to convince Wimbledon and the French Open to offer equal prizes to men and women. Venus was backed by Tony Blair after a poignant letter to the London Times which she called Wimbledon on the “wrong side of history.” Over the next two years, Venus led the campaign for gender equality and in February 2007, both Wimbledon and the French Open changed their policies. That same year, Venus won Wimbledon, earning the same prize as Roger Federer.
